Legal & Religious Freedom FAQ

The Church of the Sacred Synthesis

Yes. The Church of the Sacred Synthesis is a faith-based religious organization recognized under 26 U.S.C. § 508(c)(1)(a). This designation applies to churches that meet specific criteria under U.S. tax and religious law and affirms the Church’s status as a religious body rather than a commercial enterprise.

The Church asserts its rights under:

  • The First Amendment of the United States Constitution (Free Exercise of Religion), and
  • The Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), 42 U.S.C. § 2000bb-1

These protections exist to prevent the government from substantially burdening sincere religious exercise without a compelling interest pursued through the least restrictive means.

The Church offers its sacraments solely as part of sincere religious exercise, ceremony, and devotion. The Church maintains that sacramental use is central to its religious practice and spiritual expression.

However, RFRA protections are not automatic or guaranteed. They are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may depend on jurisdiction, context, and enforcement posture.

No representation is made that sacramental participation is lawful in all jurisdictions.
