What is ceremonial cacao? It is a term for high-grade, fine flavor, traditional chocolate that is used to emulate some of the spiritual practices of the Mayans and Aztec people. Historically, cacao drinks have been used for a variety of life-affirming ceremonies, including births, marriages, and battles, as well as to honor the gods.

Spiritual benefits of cacao –
It is a powerful tool to go deeper in your inner work, whether it’s journaling, visualization, or shamanic journeying. A cacao ceremony can also assist in energetic healing and receiving clarity in the areas of love, purpose, intuitive abilities, and personal growth.

Cacao (*raw), known as the “food of the gods”, is the seed found in the fruit of the Theobroma cacao tree, which is native to the Amazon basin. This bean was first discovered by the Mayans and has remained a staple in many cultures.

Rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, cacao can be considered a “super food”.

Theobromine is a chemical that has a similar structure to caffeine, but the difference is that, instead of being a nervous system stimulant like coffee, theobromine dilates the cardiovascular system that results in opening up the blood vessels in a sense of alertness and relaxation at the same time. The two stimulants are related but very different chemicals with different properties.

I source my ceremonial grade cacao from a dear friend in Mexico. I have worked on creating the perfect recipe for over two years. This is the same recipe that we use in our cacao ceremonies. I have adapted this recipe into convenient home use rosebuds.
This recipe is vegan & gluten free. Contains- ceremonial Mayan cacao, organic MCT oil, coconut sugar, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, a smidge of cayenne, & a pinch of sea salt.

My home ceremonial packages contain four rosebuds each. Each rosebud contains 20 mg of cacao, making it the perfect meditation dose. Two rosebuds (a total of 40 mg cacao) is considered a ceremonial dose. Each package contains two ceremony doses or four meditation doses. Also, half of a rosebud is a lovely addition to your morning coffee!

However, you choose to enjoy your ceremonial cacao, it is recommended to dissolve in hot water or steamed milk of your choice (I like oat or coconut milk) thoroughly. Settle into a quiet place, set an intention and begin your meditation as you sip mindfully and thoughtfully on your cup of cacao. Simply notice the feelings and sensations that may come up during your meditation. Be mindful of any messages you may receive over the next 24-48 hours after consuming.
